Le traitement cérébral de la musique dans la dépression : une méta-analyse de neuroimagerie (SDM-PSI) sur le lien entre mémoire autobiographique et régulation émotionnelle
Résumé
L’effet thérapeutique de la musique est largement reconnu et demeure un sujet d’investigation, du fait de sa capacité à évoquer des souvenirs et à susciter des réactions émotionnelles. La présente étude, inscrite dans le cadre du projet intitulé « La mémoire autobiographique dans la dépression : Méta- analyse des études de neuroimagerie (SDM-PSI) », vise à explorer le lien entre la dépression et la musique. Plus spécifiquement, elle examine le rôle médiateur de la musique entre la mémoire autobiographique et la dépression, ainsi que les corrélats cérébraux associés à l’écoute musicale chez des patients souffrant de dépression, comparativement à des individus non déprimés. Pour ce faire, une méta-analyse a été réalisée à partir de onze études de neuroimagerie par IRMf (Imagerie par résonance magnétique fonctionnelle), recourant à l’analyse voxel-based et à la cartographie par semences (Seed-Based Mapping) avec permutation des images des sujets, grâce au logiciel SDM-PSI. L’échantillon total comprenait 449 adultes, dont 259 patients dépressifs. Les résultats révèlent une activation marquée de régions cérébrales impliquées dans la mémoire, la régulation émotionnelle et les fonctions cognitives lors de l’écoute musicale, chez les participants déprimés comme chez les témoins. Néanmoins, les personnes dépressives présentent une hypo-activation de certaines régions cérébrales reliées à la régulation émotionnelle, à la mémoire, aux fonctions cognitives, sémantiques, motrices et au langage, suggérant que la perception de la musique est altérée en contexte dépressif. Ces conclusions fournissent un socle pour de futures recherches sur les interactions entre la dépression et la musique, et peuvent éclairer l’élaboration d’approches thérapeutiques fondées sur l’utilisation de la musique.
