Et toi Cerveau, qui es-tu ? Création de séquences d'enseignement pour permettre aux enfants en difficulté de mieux comprendre le cerveau
Abstract
Recent discoveries in educational neuroscience suggest that understanding brain function enhances metacognition and student engagement in learning. Specifically, studies highlight the role of neuroplasticity and executive functions in motivation and academic success. This article explores the impact of knowledge about the brain and its functioning on the motivation and academic engagement of children with learning difficulties. The author, a special education teacher, designed and implemented teaching sequences to help students understand the role of different brain regions, the mechanisms of neuroplasticity, and the effects of neurodevelopmental disorders on learning. An approach based on metacognition and educational neuroscience was adopted to foster better self-esteem and a sense of control over learning. The results suggest an improvement in students’ engagement, understanding of brain function, and motivation. However, further research is needed to assess the long-term impact of these interventions.
