Abstract

This work explores attachment disorders in children placed in a medical-educational residential setting in Lausanne. It explains how early emotional deprivation, trauma, and family instability can deeply affect a child’s emotional, relational, and brain development. Drawing on educational neuroscience, the PRESENCE model, and the ARC model, the author highlights the importance of a stable, safe, and caring educational environment. The project mainly introduces the RESPIRE workshop, based on breathing, cardiac coherence, and emotional co-regulation, to help children strengthen their inner sense of safety and self-regulation skills. The GOISA observation grid could then be used to assess changes in their emotional security over time.
