Comment genial.ly peut-il aider un/e élève à améliorer sa mémoire ?

Abstract

Memorization which includes encoding, storage and retrieval processes, is an essential part of learning. Explanations of the major causes of memorization difficulties and strategies to improve memory would be valuable information for students. This present paper investigates the efficiency of an interactive presentation of memory (on the Genial.ly platform) to improve students’ learning. The hypothesis is that a better understanding of how memory functions would significantly improve students learning. An interactive presentation was created on the Genial.ly platform around three themes: (1) of what consists memory, (2) methods to improve it, and (3) games and memory tests. High school level participants (n=9) consulted the site and filled in a questionnaire about memory and their appreciation of the presentation. Most participants found that the interactive presentation helped them better understand memory functioning and would improve their learning. Participants also appreciated the interactive format of the presentation, particularly its ease to access and visual attractiveness. An interactive presentation that encompasses theory and solutions seems to significantly enhance students learning. The small size of the sample prevents generalization of the results and invites us to pursue research.
